Learning New Vocabulary Words

The first thing that we did in class today was we pulled out our text books and our notebooks because Mr. Schick told us that we would need them for today's class. We need them to write notes that we would research about later on during that class period. Basically, during the class period we were required to research the meaning of Greek words. Some of the words were "polis" and "agora" and "Socrates" (ect). We were using our computers and looking up these vocabulary words and trying to find the truth meaning of them. Once we found the meaning, then we had to open up our human geography textbooks and write down the definitions that we were able to find through our available resources. We could use any resource that we wanted to use in order to get ahold of this information. This was a very fun assignment to do today in class today because we were able to have funny conversations with Mr. Schick and we were able to look up and be informed on new information I didn't know before.

Today in western civilization class with mr. schick we talked about Martin Luther. Martin Luther was a very smart man and his dad made him go through law school, which were pretty sure he was not in agreement with, but he did it anyway. One day on his way back home, Martin's horse chariot was struck by a lightning bolt. Luther thought he was dying, so he made a plea to God that he will forever worship him if he helps keep Luther alive. Shortly after this spectacle, Luther became a monk and devoted his life to worshipping the Gods.

Today in western civilization class we were learning about the Renaissance. We learned that many major artist were sponsored by a wealthy woman named Isabella de-este. She was a very, very wealthy woman who would invest her own money into a famous artist's paintings. These artists include people such as michaelangelo, Leonardo davinci, and many others.

Cleisthenes and Isagoras

Today in human geography class with Mr. Schick we learned about the historic events in Greece when Isagoras and Cleisthenes were at uneven terms. The two leader has many hardships and they were following up the banishment of Hippias. The two political figures had various views.  Isagoras was the horrible tyrant whom everyone disliked. Cleisthenes was the political leader who was loved by everyone and was the favorite to be picked. For no apparent reason, Cleisthenes was not picked in the end and ended up getting ostracized by Isagoras out of Athens. Later on, Isagoras was revolted against and was thrown out of office by the citizens of Greece, he was then ostracized for good when Cleisthenes was later elected into office.
